Shamini holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Psychology, Summa Cum Laude) and a Master's in Counselling (High Distinction). She is a full member of the Singapore Psychological Society and a Registered Counsellor/ Clinical Member (CO272P) of the Singapore Association of Counselling. Currently, she is pursuing her Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D). Her doctoral project focuses on adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) within the Indian community in Singapore.
Shamini's experience over the last 12 years has been with children, adolescents, and their families. She takes an integrative approach when working with children; some of the therapeutic modalities that she employs involve client-centered, cognitive-behaviour, and solution-focused therapies. Shamini believes strongly that many opportunities must be provided for the child to succeed.
Shamini considers herself a lifelong learner; lecturing working adults in the evenings and learning together with them. She additionally supervises counselling practicum students from various universities. In her free time, Shamini loves to take walks with her newly-born twins, toddler, and her golden retriever, in one of Singapore's beautiful parks.
